STEP South Australia
We welcome all professional advisers, educators and students with a trusts and estates focus in their practice, whether for private or corporate clients.
We welcome all professional advisers, educators and students with a trusts and estates focus in their practice, whether for private or corporate clients.
STEP South Australia provides a forum in which professionals from different professions (law, accounting and financial planning) can collaborate and share knowledge and experience. The areas of expertise of our members span taxation, trusts and equity, estates and succession planning, and dispute resolution. There is particular interest and expertise in business families succession issues, through the Business Families Special Interest Group.
We aim to provide education in three main areas:
All of our events include networking opportunities after each presentation.
Most events are held in the early evenings and consist of lectures or panel discussions, covering both practical and theoretical/jurisprudential issues. The presenters usually provide a written paper.
We also hold ‘Pop Up Discussion Groups’, which allow more informal and in depth discussion of recent lectures, cases or articles. Attendees are encouraged to contribute to the discussion, and attendee numbers are limited.
The Annual Trusts Symposium is our showcase event each year. The Symposium, which is primarily concerned with trust law, has become a ‘must attend’ event for many practitioners. Speakers have included superior court judges, academics and leading lawyers. For further details, see here.
