STEP Queensland branch 8th Annual Conference

The eighth Annual Trusts & Estates Conference for STEP Queensland branch was held in early September, at the Peppers Salt Resort and Spa at Kingscliff.

The pre-conference drinks event on the Thursday evening enjoyed the highest ever attendance, with well over 120 people. This year, the relaxed time with colleagues and friends was extended with dinner boxes supplied.

The Hon. Alan Wilson QC opened the conference on the Friday, which was at near capacity with 162 delegates in the room.

The speakers were all exceptional.  We were honoured to listen to Sir Anthony Mason, AC KBE GBM speak on Discretionary Trusts and their engagement with statutes. Professor Prue Vines examined the Drafting of Culturally Appropriate Wills and Don Fraser QC TEP provided us with further insight on the doctrine of unconscionability.

QLS President, Christine Smyth TEP, closed what was a most enjoyable, rewarding and by all accounts, successful conference.
