This paper seeks to provide some practical guidance around obtaining a grant of representation in common form (as opposed to solemn form’) – be that probate, letters of
administration (LOA) – on intestacy, with the will or limited or special The focus is on full grants rather than limited grants – a topic for another day.
The paper canvasses:
A review of the basics;
An update on the current advertising requirements; and
A sample of some tricky (or non-standard) applications and tips for proceeding with the following types of grants:
(A) Will with only one witness;
(B) What to do if you have duplicate wills;
(C) How to get a grant when the original has been lost;
(D) Grant to a charity? and
(E) I need a grant urgently.
