South Australia 7th Annual Trusts Symposium

On 10 March 2017, STEP South Australia branch and the Law Society of South Australia presented the 7th Annual Trusts Symposium in Adelaide.

Following the welcome from Rod Luker TEP, Chair of STEP SA, the Symposium, which was fully booked, was officially opened by the Hon. Tom Gray QC.

Professor John Langbein, Sterling Professor Emeritus of Law & Legal History, Professorial Lecturer in Law, Yale Law School, USA delivered the inaugural the Hon. Christopher Legoe QC AO Lecture ‘Absorbing South Australia’s Wills Act Dispensing Power in the United States: Emulation, Resistance and Expansion’, which related his previous work in South Australia concerning s 12 of the Wills Act 1936 (SA).

Local barrister Robert Cameron TEP delivered a paper on ‘Good Deeds’ and the Hon. Eric Heenan QC delivered the late David Haines QC Memorial Lecture ‘Family provision expectations’.

Other presentations were made by the Hon. Justice Jennifer Davies, the Hon. Justice Tony Pagone, Tom Cox SC and Rod Genders TEP.
